Who are the GPCo?

The LLP is a Limited Liability Partnership between GP Partnerships and Assura Medical.  The LLPs (also referred to as GP provider companies or more commonly as GPCos) are a 50:50 joint venture partnership and each GPCo is led by a Clinical Management Board comprising of local GPs, a Business Director and one representative from Assura. 

GPs are not paid to refer patients into services run by the GPCo. In line with Department of Health policy, patients should be given a choice of at least 4 providers at the point of referral and should they choose to be referred into a service run by the GPCo, the referrer must declare that they have a commercial interest in the GPCo provider organisation.
